Light snow visits GC, closes campus for two days

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- Updated Jan. 18 -- After school was cancelled for Wednesday just before 10 p.m. Tuesday, Georgia College and the city of Milledgeville received snow early on Wednesday morning. Although the light snow stopped falling around 10:30 a.m., it had created a fine blanket over the greenery on campus.

Around 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, the Georgia College alert system announced that campus would be closed on Thursday, Jan. 18. Per The Weather Channel, temperatures are expected to be below freezing from 6 p.m. Wednesday until around 10 a.m. Thursday.

According to GC FrontPage, the decision to close school Thursday related to the Governor's Office announcement of a state of emergency for Georgia.
