Wrong-way cyclist crashes into GC student’s car

A bicyclist struck a car with four GC students inside at the intersection of Hancock and Tattnall on Thursday, Feb. 14 just before 6 p.m.; the bicyclist was transported to the hospital, and the four students reported no injuries.

“A pedestrian on a bicycle ran into the side of a car that was turning [off of Tattnall] onto [Hancock],” said Detective Phillip Vinson of Milledgeville Police.

The blue Toyota had a dent in the front passenger door and a shattered front passenger window.

This marks the second bike-related accident on Hancock Street in two and a half weeks. On Feb. 4, Logan Jones, a GMC student, died after being struck by a GC bus.

“The biker was on the wrong side of the road and he was slowing down,” said Jonah Gunderson, a GC sophomore. “I thought he was going to stop and let me go, so I started turning and he sped up, and then [he] hit my car.”

The Colonnade will continue to update the story.
